We would love to welcome you!
We are a small group of non-denominational christians meeting in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia, who want to show the light, love and hope of Jesus to our community.
God, the Creator of the universe, is good - and He cares about us.
Jesus ...
- The Son of God (Mark 1:1).
- He loved us so much that He gave His life for us on the cross, to pay for our sins (John 3:16).
- Having risen from the dead, He is now Lord (Philippians 2:9-11).
- One day He will return to judge the world (Matthew 25:31-32; 2 Corinthians 5:10).
After He rose from the dead, Jesus said,“...All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And Lo! I am with you, even until the end of time!”
(Matthew chapter 28, verses 18-20)
Jesus said that, to be His disciple, we need to be baptized and follow His teachings. Where do we find these?
Although there are many churches, and they disagree on many things, the vast majority agree that Jesus' teachings are found in the pages of the New Testament.
It is here we learn about Jesus, His character, what He has done for us, and how He wants us to live. It is here too that we can identify the true marks of His church, which He Himself built (Matthew 16:18). And which is still here today!
Some of the marks that identify the Lord's church are:
- The name of the church. Which is Christ; not a man, a country, market-brand etc (Romans 16:16).
- The way the church is organised. Each local congregation is autonomous. There is no "headquarters" other than Christ Himself (Ephesians 4:15). Each of these congregations is to be overseen by a group of qualified elders (Acts 14:23); qualifications are listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-11 and Titus 1:5-9.
- The way of entry into the church. It includes repentance (to turn away from our previous sinful life) and baptism (by full immersion, and for forgiveness, Acts 2:38; 2:41; 2:47). We also need to publicly acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God (Matthew 10:32-33).
- How we worship. In spirit and truth (John 4:24). Our worship is to be from the heart, and according to the Scriptures. We meet on the first day of the week (Sunday) (Acts 20:7). We avoid man-made traditions in the worship; rather we strive to worship the same way the early christians did. There's no choir, “clergy”/“laity” distinction (all christians are priests, 1 Peter 2:9), mechanical musical instruments, etc.
- We continue in a life of service, enduring the trials, and learning from Him (Matthew 24:13; 2 Peter 3:18).
- One day, He will take His disciples to heaven, a place of eternal joy (Revelation 21:1-8).
We should take these things seriously. The Bible itself says that, if we add our own man-made teachings, our worship is in vain (Matthew 15:8-9). But we can know the truth, John 8:31-32!
Please come and visit us. You will find a warm welcome!
We live in a troubled world. But we believe that Jesus will overcome all the turmoil.
“... in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but be of good cheer! I have overcome the world.”
(John chapter 16 verse 33)
