We are a small group of non-denominational christians meeting in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.
We want to show the light, love and hope of Jesus to our community.
We believe He is the son of God (Mark 1:1). He loved us so much that He gave His life for us on the cross (John 3:16) that whoever follows Him can be forgiven of their sins, and live with Him forever in heaven (Hebrews 5:9).
The New Testament is the source of our knowledge of Jesus' teachings (Matthew 28:18-20; John 16:12-14; 1 Corinthians 14:37; Jude 1:3). We strive to follow this; understanding that He will judge all people according to these teachings (John 12:48-50). Neither does He approve of man changing them (Matthew 15:8-9; Revelation 22:18-19).
It is possible to distinguish the New Testament church from denominations which don't follow these teachings. Such "markers" include:
- The name of the church. Which is Christ; not a man, a country, market-brand etc (Romans 16:16).
- The way the church is organised. Each local congregation is autonomous. There is no "headquarters" other than Christ Himself (Ephesians 4:15). Each of these congregations is overseen by a group of qualified elders (Acts 14:23; 1 Timothy 3:1-11; Titus 1:5-9).
- The way of entry into the church. It includes repentance (to turn away from our previous sinful life) and baptism (full immersion and for forgiveness, Acts 2:38; 2:41; 2:47).
- How we worship. In spirit and truth (John 4:24). Our worship is to be from the heart, and according to the Scriptures. We meet on the first day of the week (Sunday) (Acts 20:7). Our services have teachings from the Sciptures, prayer, singing, collection and remembering the Lord's death with bread and the fruit of the vine. We avoid man-made traditions in the worship; rather we stive worship the same way the early christians did. There's no choir, "clergy"/"laity" distinction (all christians are priests, 1 Peter 2:9), mechanical musical instruments, etc.
Please come and visit us. You will receive a warm welcome!
We live in a troubled world. But we believe the hope of Jesus overcomes it - for all eternity.
He said.
“... in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but be of good cheer! I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33)
